This book is an in-depth examination of the intellectual world of Korean women during the late Joseon period(1392-1910). The author analyzes the thoughts fo eight women writers and scholars, including Kim Hoyeonjae, Im Yunjidang and Kim Gyeong-chun. She stresses that the influence of their social awareness and intellectual integrity persisted throughout the 19th century.
