Applying for a Visa
The following information is provided as a general guideline only.
Applicants must check the specific requirements with the Korean embassy, consulate, or Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) in their jurisdiction, as requirements may vary by location.
Required Documents in General (Visa)
Applying for a Visa
- Visa Application Form (www.hikorea.go.kr → Favorite Services → Application Form)
- Passport (original and a photocopy)
- Color photo (3.5 cm × 4.5 cm)
- Photocopy of the University’s Business Registration Certificate (provided by Ewha)
- Certificate of Admission (provided by Ewha)
- Letter of Admission (downloadable from the application page)
- Documents proving financial ability (sufficient to cover tuition and living expenses)
- Documents proving family relations (only for those submitting their parents’ bank statements)
- Both the original document and a notarized Korean translation are required.
- The Korean version must include the applicant’s English name and be accompanied by a photocopy of the passport. - Application fee (please check with the Korean embassy or consulate in your country)
- Medical certificate for tuberculosis screening (required for certain nationalities only)
Applying for a Registration Card (RC)
Who should apply for a Residence Card (RC)?
According to the Korean law, all foreigners residing in Korea for more than 3 months (90 days) must have the Registration Card (RC) within 90 days upon your arrival in Korea. This permit is required regardless of your visa status, and it is to your advantage to make it as soon as possible. When you leave Korea during the semester for a short period, you must bring your Registration Card with you to maintain your D-2-6 or D-2-8 VISA for re-entry to Korea.

However, you are exempt from this duty, if you are
- A registered foreigner who has obtained a re-entry permit, and plans to re-enter Korea within the period of re-entry given
- A registered foreigner who has a multiple visa, or a national of Re-entry Permit Waiver countries and wishes to re-enter Korea within the period of stay given
