Harvard Model Congress Asia is a premier government simulation conference for high school students to learn and experience government while playing the roles of officials in the United States government and several international political bodies. Since 2004, HMCA has been committed to providing an immersive educational experience for high school students from across the globe by offering a truly interactive program, featuring one-on-one communication with Harvard students, debate on pressing global issues, and cross-cultural connections among delegates. Last year, the 2024 HMCA conference featured over 400 delegates hailing from 17 different countries who engaged in three days of debate that developed research, public speaking, and critical thinking skills.

HMCA additionally provides a number of networking and mentorship opportunities for students before and during the conference, including:

•“The Briefing Room” mentorship presentations/guides, providing support in public speaking skills, parliamentary procedure, and more!

•Office hours with senior staffers for each committee, allowing students to adequately prepare for their specific debate topics with the guidance of our staffers.

•A keynote speaker during HMCA’s opening session, which has in the past included Ambassadors, leading government officials, and civic engagement champions. Last year, our 2026 keynote speaker was Ambassador Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, the 19th Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan.

•College Q&A Panels in committees held by Harvard undergraduate students
