Ewha Exchange Program Overview
This exchange program gives opportunities for the undergraduate and graduate students of Ewha Womans University to study in foreign partner universities which with Ewha Womans University have signed partnership agreement. The students are selected twice a year in accordance with the agreement between Ewha and respective partner universities or educational institutions and can study at the partner universities and experience the culture, thus cultivating global perspective.
Once the students are selected to the program, the tuition will be paid to home university, and the credits acquired during exchange experience at the host university will be transferred after set procedures.

Student Exchange Program
The selected students will be sent to the respective partner universities that have signed academic partnership agreement. Tuition will be paid to Ewha Womans University, while the student housing fee will be paid to the host universities. The duration of program is one semester or (up to) one year.
Fee-paying Program
Selection and other administrative procedures are identical with those of Student Exchange Program, and the students for Fee-paying Program will be selected during the general exchange student selection process. Although the students for this program have to pay tuition to both home and host universities, tuition of host universities will be deducted and 80% of the tuition to the home university will be refunded to the students in the form of scholarship (if student is eligible for the scholarship).
International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)
ISEP is non-profit organization in the U.S., which is established to facilitate credit transfer between foreign universities, administer exchange programs between Ewha Womans University and other foreign universities that have not signed partnership agreement. Unlike the exchange student program where only the tuition is paid to Ewha Womans University, this program includes dormitory fee and cafeteria cost also paid to Ewha Womans University and allows students to study for one semester in one of the ISEP member universities (See
www.isep.org).
Eligibility
- Undergraduate/Graduate: Students who have completed minimum of one semester at Ewha Womans University and are not in their final full-time semester (i.e. 8th semester) of study. Students on leave of absence can apply, but they have to be registered as full-time registration students (no part-time enrollment) when attending their exchange semester abroad. If students attend exchange program on their 8th semester, they have to enroll 1 more semester at Ewha before graduation.
- Undergraduate students with cumulative GPA equal to or higher than 3.0/4.3; graduate students with cumulative GPA equal to or higher than 3.3/4.3
- Students who are able to study in the language spoken in respective universities (Students who have been qualified in official foreign language fluency certification in accordance with “Eligibility Standard for Language Proficiency by Category”)
- Students without any record of disciplinary actions according to university regulation (academic probation does not fall into the category.)
- Students without any disqualifications for overseas travelling
- D-2 visa holder who participates exchange program more then 6 months should report to Immingration office and could be required to acquire D-2 visa again when returning to Ewha.
- Students with qualifications required by Office International Affairs or host universities. - Students should be advised that the credits acquired in other universities (domestic/foreign) than Ewha Womans University will be counted and transferred within 50% of the credits required for graduation.
Eligibility Standard for Language Proficiency
- English-speaking countries: over TOEFL IBT 72/ IELTS 6.0 (Institutional TOEFL is not applicable / TOEFL MyBest Score is not acceptable at the time of application)
* Language Proficiency Certificate must be valid within two years from assigned university. Since exchange period is different from university to university, following common criteria must be followed:
-Spring Semester: Language Proficiency Certificate must be valid until January 31st of the exchange year
-Fall Semester: Language Proficiency Certificate must be valid until July 31st of the exchange year
- Some universities might require Language Proficiency Certificate that is valid until or beyond the end date of the exchange period
- 5-major languages (Japanese/Chinese/French/German/Spanish): Written examination and interview held by the Office of International Affairs (In case of submitting the Language Proficiency Certificate, additional score (1 point) will be added to your total score).
Selection Process
Procedures
Credit Transfer
Students who would like to transfer credits as major courses must refer to the each department procedure before departure. Department chair will decide whether a course can be accepted towards major courses.
- Students must request a transfer of their transcript to Ewha OIA from the international office of the host institution.
- Students must request their transcripts in English, the only acceptable language by OIA at Ewha for the transferred transcripts. (If the institution does not issue transcripts in English, the document must be translated and notarized after returning to Korea.)
- Transcripts are valid only when they are submitted in a sealed manner. Therefore, students are required to submit theirs in such a manner if they are personally delivering the document.
- Transcripts delivered to OIA will not be disclosed outside the university; therefore students are advised to request an additional transcript if necessary.
- For Ewha students’ benefit, students are required to submit Letter of Pledge for Exchange/Visiting students and the application documents for the host institution to OIA.
- If there is only one semester left before graduation, students are advised to make a special request to the host institution that they should expedite the mailing of the transcript as credit transfer process should take place immediately at Ewha. Students must apply for credit transfer within 6 monthes after the exchange semester is completed. If a student will graduate at the following semester, student need to complete the credit transfer process before submitting graduation registration to university.
